TWIT as an organisation and its members have emerged out of a very exciting  Government initiative of a decade ago when the South African Network of Woman in Transport (SANWIT) organisation was founded by the department of Transport. The initiative has, however, not  kicked off the ground as enthusiastically as expected and hoped for by the founding members.

Women of Tshwane have decided to take the initiative further and form a regional organisation to pursue their business development objectives and also assist revitalisation of SANWIT regions across the Country.

TWIT members have adopted the organisation’s founding continuation and elected the executive team to lead and guide the organisation during the initial period of three years.

“Women in Africa do not need charity to finance the issue. Control of the resources that they create is the issue, and respect in the financial sector is the issue.” - Jennifer Riria
